Waterfalls, streams, stone patios and fire pits that turn an Atlanta backyard into the place you never want to leave. Designed and built by John Kenna since 1997.
A fire pit. A stone patio. A waterfall that runs all day with no pond to clean. The kind of yard where the weekend starts at the back door.
John builds the way nature would. A waterfall that starts halfway up a slope looks contrived, so his start at the top. He reads a yard for drainage, privacy and light first, then fits the design to your space and your budget. More than 100 water features later, that is still the whole method.
Pondless waterfalls, streams and fountains. Living water that takes care of itself.
Planting and lighting that bring life to empty spaces by day and glow by night.
Patios, retaining walls and fire pits, handcrafted from natural stone to last.
“You gave me a vacation resort property with no additional tax.”
Two weeks after his waterfall went in, he called John over, paid in cash and added a tip. It happens more than you'd think: several of John's clients have sold their homes on the strength of the backyard.

John founded Water, Color & Stone in 1997 out of a passion for making the beauty of the outdoors accessible to everyone. His eye for design and deep knowledge of carpentry, masonry and aquatics have served homeowners across metro Atlanta ever since.
Clients call him Pond John. It started when one couldn't find his card and phoned asking for "Pond John." He laughed, he'd been called worse, and the name stuck. Trained by Aquascape in natural ponds and waterfalls, he has built more than 100 water features across Atlanta.
These days John takes on a few projects at a time and builds them himself, so the detail never gets rushed.
In his free time you'll likely find him in the ice cream aisle, tuned in to a Braves game, or working in the garden with his wife, Jane.
“John Kenna, owner of Water, Color & Stone is incredible at what he does. He can take the most boring front yard or back yard and make it into a place of beauty and escape, even if the house is in the middle of an urban area.”
